Jason Mayer is a 20 year, multiple award winning, veteran of the film and animation industry. He is currently Head of Effects at DreamWorks Animation. This year he will complete his 19th animated feature, Kung Fu Panda 4. He recently provided FX work for the VES winning and Oscar nominated “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and “The Bad Guys”. He started his career working on live action films as an fx artist and has worked on a variety of theme park rides, commercials, and shorts.
He grew up in rural Ohio, wanting to become an artist. He was traditionally trained at Ohio University where he earned his undergraduate for painting. He went on to earn a computer art M.F.A from The Savannah College of Art and Design. His guiding work philosophy is to solve problems elegantly using that traditional background.
