Jason Mayer is a multiple award winning, veteran of the film and animation industry with over two decades of experience. He is currently Head of Effects at DreamWorks Animation. This year he saw the release of Kung Fu Panda 4, where he supervised a team of 45 fx artists on over 800 shots. He also contributed fx work to the critically acclaimed, The Wild Robot, which marks his 20th animated feature. Mayer started his career working on live action films as an fx artist and in between feature animation films has worked on a variety of theme park rides, commercials, and shorts. These have been seen during The Summer Olympics, The Super Bowl, The Today Show and on location at Universal Studios Hollywood.

He grew up in rural Ohio, wanting to become an artist. He was traditionally trained at Ohio University where he earned his undergraduate for painting. He transitioned to a computer art program, earning a M.F.A from The Savannah College of Art and Design. His guiding work philosophy is to solve problems elegantly, weaving that traditional background with the latest technology.
